Happy Birthday Ruth Ann

I’d like to wish my very good friend Ruth Ann a “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” today !!! There’s never a day that goes by that I don’t think of you & miss the get togethers we’ve had playing with our stamps & dies. I’ll be home before you know it & we must plan more time for those days.

I have enough supplies to rival Michael’s or JoAnns & still I procrastinate about getting cards made for those who mean so much to me. Neither of my daughters received cards this year & now here it is my sweet friend Ruth Ann’s birthday & no card sent off to her YET either !!! I do have a little something for her but as is the “norm” for me it will be late … I was thinking of you when I got it & should have had it in the mail days ago.

But for today I’m just going to share a little recipe book that my friends, my daughters & I made awhile back because they were so fun to make & there’s nothing better than sharing the craft we all love. These were so easy to make & made the most wonderful gifts. It was like making little scrapbook pages using recipes instead of pictures & then inserted into plastic sleeves in a small album …

This is a recipe Ruth Ann shared with us & everyone added their own stamps & dies to make it original.

Angel Fluff is a favorite made for most every holiday when my girls were growing up. Now they have families of their own & are continuing the tradition … Its like eating a slice of heaven … yummy !!!

Another family favorite, Poppyseed Chicken … LOVE this stuff & the real butter & cream cheese is offset by the chicken cuz that’s healthy, right !!!

Click on these to make larger if you want to see them better.

We’ve made these little recipe albums in 6 x 6 or 8 x 8 …. Hope you give them a try using any of these or your own recipes. All it takes is a little time, a few punches, stickers or stamps & you will make someone happy knowing this was a gift made with a whole lot of love straight from the heart …

A little bit Shabby

No sentiment !!! Now HOW could I forget that !!! Today is our 25th wedding anniversary & yes it is also April Fools Day … My husband has a little sense of humor …

When I 1st started card making if I got a piece of paper a little wrinkled it would get tossed out or recycled. Today I did it on PURPOSE !!! This is my 1st attempt at being a little bit shabby & I’m not sure I’ve achieved the look but it was fun trying. Used some Tim Holtz distress inks for the 1st time on the basket, bird & papers … I LOVE those inks & the look they give. I even used a little distress tool around the edges to “rough it up” …

Couldn’t decide if I liked adding a messy seam binding bow or not so will just loosely stick in on for now. I just got a bunch of different colors from Stamp Simply & Sharon rushed my order to me so I could get it at the RV Park before we left. Awesome customer support & very fast service.

Added some bunnies I cut with dies from velvet paper & a few flowers I made with the Fabulous Phlox die & a little baby’s breath (my new “favorite” thing) for some floral filler…

We have to get on the road as we have spent the winter in sunny Arizona & now it’s time to head home. Thanks for stopping by,

Hugs, Janie

Pink & Green Surprise

My face actually HURTS from smiling all day … In the mail today I received the most wonderful gift from my friend Ruth Ann … She made me a BEAUTIFUL pink & green quilted purse for my birthday with a sweet little Tilda card. She knows my favorite colors & also knows how I LOVE Ladybugs so I got a double dose of Happy …

Does it get any better when you have friends who do something like this … I was just speechless when I opened my package thinking “oh goodie”, I KNOW she sent me some new card making die & I can’t wait to see what it is. I just hugged that gorgeous purse & got tears in my eyes. It’s so pretty I don’t even want to use it cuz I’m afraid I will get it dirty … But use it I will & am going to enjoy showing it off every day !!! Thank you my friend …

I’m sure Ruth Ann will post this on her blog as well but I just had to share it with you & I’m going to have to invest in this adorable little Tilda image & the Ladybug as well. I admit it I am a Tilda addict !!! If you’d like to pop over to her blog in the next day or so she can give you all the wonderful details on how she made these & many other wonderful cards, purses & quilts. She does an amazing job on everything !!!

The purse has magnetic closures on the sides to make it more fitted & also has one on the inside to keep everything secure.

Is this not the coolest purse, look at ALL those wonderful pockets. LOVE the magnetic closures.

My husband & daughters make me happy everyday but today I’m thankful for my friend Ruth Ann not just for the beautiful gifts but for being a true friend …

Old black purse you’re going BYE BYE !!!  Tomorrow I’ll be shopping in style …

Let it Snow with the Cameo

Creating cards is certainly my true love but I have been playing a little with my new Silhouette Cameo & wanted to share my 1st project I made with it. My good friend Ruth Ann & I bought one at the same time & figure it’s more fun if we both had one of these to play with so we can share what we learn with each other. She made some beautiful Christmas bulbs using vinyl that I’m sure she will be posting soon. Can’t wait to see them & try using vinyl myself.

This little lantern was sooooo easy to cut out with that great little machine. You can make it any size you want & next time I’ll make it large enough to put a battery candle inside. NEVER use a real candle as we all know paper & fire don’t play well together !!!

It cuts & scores everything & all I did was lift it off the paper & fold it & glue the sides & top together. It even cut out the hole in the top & cuts a strip to use for the handle. I used metallic string so I could hang it on a tree … In the 1st bottom picture the only tree nearby was a grapefruit tree & since that wasn’t very Christmassy I dug out the Christmas decoration in the camper to hang mine from.

I cut pieces of Vellum & glued them behind the cut outs so you could see the light shining thru.

Thanks for stopping by … I know it’s been a long dry spell since my last post but hopefully my MOJO has returned with the new year … I’ve missed my blog & missed doing what makes me happy. I told my husband if I got this machine I would actually be SAVING money because I would only have to buy single cuts that I needed. He just smiles cuz he loves me & knows it makes me happy.

Hugs, Janie
